Student Research Committees

IAPSS Student Research Committees (SRCs) are a framework for research activities provided by IAPSS for IAPSS members to network and work with others from around the world interested in an SRC topic. SRC activities can vary greatly but may include regular meetings and topic discussions, research article collaborations, group readings, and more.

IAPSS encourages SRC members to share all research done in SRCs. They may present public lectures to the broader IAPSS community and beyond, they may move to publish their work in either of our journals, Politikon and Encuentro Latinoamericano, or for our blog, A Different View. SRCs have also presented entire panels at the IAPSS World Congress.

SRCs are also a great place to make friends and to get closer to IAPSS. Former SRC members are now proudly elected executives for IAPSS! Come join today!

Membership

The Asia and Oceania Student Research Committee has been established by IAPSS to bring together students and researchers with a demonstrated interest in the Asia and Oceania region. The SRC is composed of a number of undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate researchers from all over the world. All the members work in a collaborative way to promote a healthy and encouraging research environment, knowledge sharing, and critical analysis.

The research carried out by the SRC members aims to provide for a comprehensive review and analysis of the relevant quantitative and qualitative sources. Being developed along various pillars of the political science research on the Asia and Oceania region, it covers inter alia:

(1) politics and
institutional development of Asia and Oceania;
(2) internationalization of the region, its role, and contribution to the international system and global order; as well as
(3) emerging political theories and scientific methods of political science research in the Asia and Oceania region.

The SRC has employed outlets (for instance Blog posts in A Different View under the sub-branch of SRCs, Politikon, or podcasts within and beyond IAPSS) to publish its research and insights. The members are also expected to present their work either in IAPSS Conferences, Summer and Winter Schools, or outside of IAPSS panels such as IPSA WC, ECPR WC.

Gender and Identity

The Gender and Identity Student Research Committee (SRC) was established by IAPSS to bring researchers and students together with a common interest in Gender and Identity Studies. The SRC is composed of undergraduate and graduate researchers who conduct research individually and together in the field. Activities include but are not limited to research projects, monthly seminars and webinars, interdisciplinary conferences, publication initiatives, guest lectures, collaborative workshops, film screenings and discussions, library and resource curation, collaborative research networks, policy advocacy, annual reports and publications, and online discussion forums. Please read the current theme and application requirements carefully before applying.

Political Theory

Political Theory Student Research Committee was established by IAPSS to bring researchers and students together with a common interest in political philosophy. The SRC is composed of several undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate researchers from all over the world who conduct research together in the field of political theory. The group collects a comprehensive base of readings and reference readings concerning the subject. The committee has employed outlets (for instance Blog posts in A Different View under the subbranch of SRCs, Politikon, or podcasts within and beyond IAPSS) to publish their research and insights. The members are also expected to present their work either in IAPSS Conferences, Summer and Winter Schools, or outside of IAPSS panels such as IPSA WC, ECPR WC.

Comparative Politics

The Comparative Politics Student Research Committee was established by IAPSS to bring researchers and students together with a common interest in comparative politics. The SRC is composed of several undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate researchers from all over the world who conduct research together in their respective fields.

European Politics
The European Union Politics Student Research Committee (EUPSRC) was established by IAPSS in order to bind students, emerging scholars, and professional researchers together under a shared passion for European integration and European affairs. Our SRC is welcoming academic fellows of various scholarly backgrounds and expertise levels who seek to investigate, individually or collectively, the vast niche of European studies.

The group is currently focused on European integration and its discontents.
