The International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS) is currently seeking applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief of Politikon, the IAPSS Journal (ISSN [online] 2414-6633), an official academic journal of IAPSS.
Politikon is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes high-quality research papers, theoretical and methodological essays, and book reviews in the field of political science. The journal is published biannually and covers a wide range of topics in political science, including but not limited to comparative politics, international relations, political theory, public policy, and political economy.
The Editor-in-Chief will serve a two-year term, beginning in May 2023.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
• Overseeing the entire publication process of the Journal, from soliciting submissions and managing the peer-review process to making final decisions on content and ensuring that the journal meets the highest standards of academic excellence.
• Keeping track of submissions and maintaining an orderly filing system.
• Coordinating the distribution of work among the members of the Editorial Board.
• Participating in regular meetings with the Academic Department of IAPSS to provide updates on the Journal’s progress and publication schedule.
• Overseeing the implementation of the IAPSS Declaration on Plagiarism
• Ensuring the anonymisation of submissions for the double-blind peer review.
• Managing the flow of information and updates on the Politikon Open Journal System platform, in cooperation with the Editorial Board and the IAPSS Executive Committee.
• Promoting Politikon through IAPSS and external channels.
Qualifications for the position include:
• Prior experience as Editor or Editor-in-Chief (mandatory for this position).
• Enrollment in a doctoral programme in political science or a related field OR a doctoral degree.
• Strong organisational and management skills.
• Demonstrated experience in academic publishing, including familiarity with the peer-review process
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
