Your tasks

You would work together with the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Your core area of work will be to manage IAPPS presence on partner conferences, as well as to take part in establishing new partnerships. You will be in charge of tasks related to the delegations and panels convened under the aegis of IAPSS at international conferences (e.g. IPSA World Congress, APSA Annual Meeting, ISA Annual Convention, ECPR General Conference as well as other smaller scale conferences). These tasks range from proposing sections and panel themes, to preparing and launching calls for papers, evaluating and selecting applicants, evaluating travel grant applications, taking care of logistical arrangements for panellists, chairpersons. You are able to prioritise the workload yourself and the professional, supportive environment is offered.

 

Your skills and experiences

  • Independent  in your work ethics: we are specifically looking for proactive people who anticipate problems and solve them before they occur, combined with reliability and flexibility with regard to the work in a highly international environment with a strong intercultural competence;
  • Writing applications and proposals;
  • Group coordination and relational skills;
  • Availability for around 10 hours per week;
  • Communicative skills within both formal discussions and informal conversations;
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English.

 

It is beneficial if candidates have:

  • experience with academic research;
  • participated to at least one international conference as a panelist constitutes
  • a significant advantage.
  • experience with the coordination of academic or non-academic groups.

  • You must be a member of IAPSS during the time you hold the position.
  • You are a volunteer! This is no paid position.
