The Academic Department of the International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS here and after) is looking for Editors for the A Different View.
If you are an academic research enthusiast and enjoy editorial, review or academic writing while helping students and young researchers grow and achieve their research goals, then this role is for you.
The Editorial Board is responsible for the following:
- Setting editorial goals and content strategies for the blog in cooperation with the Editor-in-Chief and the Deputy Editor-in-Chief;
- cooperating with the Editor-in-Chief to establish quarterly or monthly thematic focuses for the blog’s call for submissions;
- harmonizing the editorial efforts across the blog, the wider Academic Department (Journals, Think Tank, SRCs), and other IAPSS publications to ensure content alignment;
- managing the editorial calendar, including submission deadlines, peer review schedules, and publication timelines for the blog;
- supporting authors with developmental feedback, copyediting, and proofreading to improve the quality of published articles;
- supporting the planning and execution of the research and editorial portions of virtual and in-person events (e.g., writing workshops, author meetups); and
- demonstrated experience in academic research, writing, and editing;
General Requirements:
- Graduate degree (ongoing or graduated) in Political Science, International Relations, Social Science, or related disciplines.
- B2+ English. Oral and Written knowledge of other languages will be appreciated.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work in multicultural environments, and excellent administrative and time management abilities.
- Experience in organizing/coordinating virtual events and workshops via Zoom or other platforms will be an advantage.
- Prior experience in research groups/teams will be an asset.
- Willingness to help and support students and young academics from all over the world.
- Respective and appreciative of the multicultural work environment and assignment deadlines.
- Access to well-established internet services and technological devices.
Preferred Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of both theory and practice of research methodology (social sciences), citation, editorial processes, etc.
- A good understanding of Google Workspace and MS Office.
Expected involvement: 5 hours per week. The individual is assumed to continue office until May 31st, May 2027, unless further notified of any update.
