The Academic Department of the International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS here and after) is looking for Analysts for the IAPSS Think Tank.
If you are an academic research enthusiast and enjoy policy analysis, report writing, and collaborative research while helping students and young researchers grow and achieve their research goals, then this role is for you.
The Think Tank Analysts are responsible for the following:
(a) Conducting research and policy analysis on thematic priorities assigned by the Think Tank Coordinator in alignment with the department’s annual theme;
(b) cooperating with other Analysts and the Think Tank Coordinator to produce joint research outputs such as policy briefs, working papers, and analytical reports;
(c) harmonizing research efforts across the Think Tank, the wider Academic Department (Journals, Blog, SRCs), and other IAPSS publications to ensure thematic coherence;
(d) managing individual research timelines, including literature reviews, data collection, drafting, and submission deadlines for Think Tank outputs;
(e) supporting the Think Tank Coordinator with peer review and feedback on other Analysts’ drafts to improve the quality of published research;
(f) supporting the planning and execution of the research portions of virtual and in-person events (e.g., policy roundtables, research dissemination workshops); and
(g) demonstrated experience in academic research, policy writing, and qualitative or quantitative analysis.
General Requirements:
(a) Graduate degree (ongoing or graduated) in Political Science, International Relations, Social Science, Public Policy, or related disciplines.
(b) B2+ English. Oral and Written knowledge of other languages will be appreciated.
(c) Excellent communication skills, ability to work in multicultural environments, and excellent administrative and time management abilities.
(d) Experience in organizing/coordinating virtual events and workshops via Zoom or other platforms will be an advantage.
(e) Prior experience in research groups/teams will be an asset.
(f) Willingness to help and support students and young academics from all over the world.
(g) Respective and appreciative of the multicultural work environment and assignment deadlines.
(h) Access to well-established internet services and technological devices.
Preferred Requirements:
(a) Basic knowledge of both theory and practice of research methodology (social sciences), policy analysis frameworks, citation styles, etc.
(b) A good understanding of Google Workspace and MS Office.
Expected involvement: 5 hours per week. The individual is assumed to continue office until May 31st, May 2027, unless further notified of any update.
