On 31st October 2018, IAPSS celebrated its 20th Anniversary. To celebrate this important achievement, IAPSS launched the Regionalisation Project, with the aim of making IAPSS a more accessible, inclusive and global association. In order to respond and interact with students in every region, IAPSS should be able to organize itself in all parts of the world.

From this initiative, IAPSS Africa, IAPSS Asia, IAPSS Europe, IAPSS Latin America, IAPSS Oceania, and IAPSS USA & Canada are born and ready to give opportunities to all the political science students from all parts of the world. By regionalizing, IAPSS creates new pathways to inclusiveness. IAPSS understands that entities with regional focus and responsibility are far better able to understand language barriers, cultural traits, or particular interests of students in the region.

Through the incorporation of a federal system, IAPSS fosters a sustainable environment for an organization that aspires to be recognised as an important actor in the field of youth education advocacy and representation of students in all four corners of the globe. By fostering regional partnerships, IAPSS’ presence will be established on a much more local level through wisely tapping into local knowledge and connections of our partners. These create local points of access and participation for those who do not have the means to travel long-distance to our core events.

Regionalising IAPSS does not mean disaggregating, but de-centralising. Regionalization reshapes our identity. We become  an organization that draws power from expertise and not hierarchy, which is where our full potential lies.

IAPSS USA and Canada is primarily interested in bringing together students of political science, economics, philosophy, and public policy to network, share research, and strengthen connections between schools, regions, and nations. Our vision is to create a platform for student voices, a medium of exchange for informed political discourse, and a series of events and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

The goal for the 2019/2020 mandate is to establish a presence online and at universities across Canada and the United States, build a membership composed of passionate students, and host our first annual convention in Autumn 2020.
