Unveiling Peru: The Hidden War
Location: Lima, Peru
Anticipated date: 15. 2. 2009 – 25. 2. 2009
Estimated number of participants: 50 - 70
Brief Description:
The project aims to address human rights violations that
took place during the past two decades in Peru. Participants will first attend
general a course on human rights (from various aspects), and then work on a
more specific topic in frames of their chosen module. Participants are expected
to work on the topic prior to their arrival to Peru. They will be provided with
material (articles, essays, etc.), proposed by lecturers, but they will also
need to search for additional sources. A forum will be established for the
needs of this project, where participants and others will be able to exchange
opinions and knowledge among each other. The actual course in Peru should serve
as an upgrade of written sources and basic knowledge obtained prior to course;
participants will there have a possibility to speak with representatives of NGOs,
indigenous communities, activists etc. Preferably they will already have some
concrete idea on how to contribute to the project while staying in Peru. In
frames of the module they will be required to produce articles, reportage, do
interviews etc. according to their choice and in consultation with the
coordinator of chosen module. In the end, they will present their work in
panels and discussions to the other participants and those interested in it. The
Work of the participants will be put together and published in a booklet that
will be distributed to everybody involved in the project, but also to
